Summary biography
In 1994 Chantal was a teenager. Over fifty members of Chantal’s family were murdered during the 100 days of the genocide, including her two brothers. She was forced to hide in bushes and by buildings to avoid being found and killed. A Hutu neighbour called Edith helped Chantal, providing food and shelter when possible.
Chantal now lives in the UK. She is a mother, social worker and the Deputy Chair of UKUMURI (The Association of Rwandan Survivors of Genocide Against the Tutsi in the UK).
