On Thursday 15th February 2018, the students from Jewellery Quarter Academy performed the very first live “echo” inspired by the testimony of Holocaust survivor, Zigi Shipper. This echo was captured by our film maker partner, VYKA and we are now proud to release this first film echo. The film will ultimately form part of the archive which will be accessible at the new UKHMF Education Centre in London.
The echo is a response to Zigi’s testimony and was created by the children during an artistic residency at Stan’s Café. The testimony itself was gifted to the school by Zigi during a ceremony at the project launch in January. Throughout the film the students use the words from the testimony and Zigi himself makes a cameo appearance!
The Project continues with the 2nd residency completed recently at City Academy- its film is soon to be released- and the 3rd and 4th residencies currently taking place at City Academy, Birmingham and King David Primary School.
